Today I’m driving a very yellow Audi Q2 Sport 2.0 TDI for a review. A special car, able to go beyond the schemes and labels. SUV, coupe, family car, city car? All of this and much more, for a car that mixes comfort, technology and driving pleasure. It’s Audi itsfelf to (not) define it: this Audi Q2 is #Untaggable.
Our photoshoot’s set is the enchanting fifteenth century structure of Villa Stanley, an historic residence near Florence, now transformed into a prestigious hotel. Surrounded by a beautiful park, the villa, with its lines in this warm light at sunset, is able to highlights the beautiful paint of this car, which I will talk about later.
The exterior line of the Audi Q2 differs a lot from the rest of the Q range. The rear pillars contrasted with the body and the very square shapes give it a very joyful design. It adapts to an audience that makes aesthetics one of the predominant factors in buying a car.
The Q2 that we have under test certainly does not go unnoticed. Especially in the city the people who turn around to look at it are many, perhaps because they are intrigued by this kind of big Pikachu on four wheels. The reason of so much curiosity is certainly linked to this colour. A stunning Vegas Yellow, which combines 19-inch black “Rotor” wheels and silver colored details, makes the car very special.
As for the exterior, the S Line package also embellishes the interior: the perforated leather on the gearshift, the three-spoke steering wheel flattened on the bottom and the package that includes aluminum for the inserts, make it really a premium car, worthy of its older sisters. So small yes, but it is still an Audi!
The engine with which this Audi Q2 is equipped is the already tested 2.0 TDI with 190 HP combined with the Quattro traction and a 7-speed S Tronic. A great combination that we had already tested with the Audi Q5 and that I appreciate even more on this car. The low weight allows this engine to be very fuel efficient and gives this little Audi a good acceleration.
I was ready for high level performances, but I remained surprised by the driving dynamics, which is the aspect that I liked the most. The seat is not as high as you can expect and thanks also to the setting with shock absorber adjustment, the roll is very low. This is why the “SUV” label does not suit you at all.
Let’s talk about the technology on board. The Audi Virtual Cockpit is combined with MMI Plus with touch controls, amazing! Also present are the LED front and rear lights with dynamic direction indicators that provide optimal illumination in all conditions.
Audi Q2 does not fear long journeys, not only thanks to the excellent interior space and reduced fuel consumption but also for to the driving assistants that are well combined: the adaptive cruise control works well and the lane assist is never too invasive. Technology and quality, we know, have a price. In fact, the 60,000 euros are easily surmounted, a price that I consider quite important for this a car.
The slightly reduced rear visibility and the head-up display projected on a retractable transparent plastic pallet, instead of on the windscreen, do not change my absolutely positive judgment on this car full of character. I really liked this Audi Q2. An amazing driving behaviour for a car that does not want to be defined, suitable for a spirit, like mine, which does not like to conform. #beUntaggable.
